Mayo Makinde is a Columbus, Ohio community advocate and an aspirating politician. He graduated from Columbus Public School’s Eastmoor High School in May 1998. He was a member of the 2002 Division 1AA National Championship Football team and Graduated from Western Kentucky University in May 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Arts and Sciences.
Mayo is the former president of the East Columbus Civic Association and a 2008 Democratic Candidate for the Ohio House of Representatives in the Ohio 27th District.
Mayo currently is employed with the Franklin County Department of Job and Family Services. In addition, he is the Executive Producer of his own business, “Black Water Productions.” Mayo was initiated into Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity, Inc. on May, 4, 2012 as a member of the Mu Iota Chapter. He is the “Divine 9” representative for his Fraternity and the Social and Political Action committee chairman for the Columbus NPHC. He also recently was elected as the Keeper of Peace for the Mu Iota Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
